Toyama

Toyama Prefecture is situated in the northern part of the Chubu region. The Sea of Japan sprawls out to the north, while the east, west, and south fringes of the prefecture are adorned with magnificent mountains, making it a region abundant in nature. There are several attractive sightseeing spots, starting with the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, which draws flocks of tourists from both within Japan and abroad, Gokayama Ainokura Gassho-Style Village - a registered World Heritage Site, and venturing through one of the best-kept secrets of Japan at Kurobe Gorge. One of the delights of Toyama is the Japanese glass shrimp, also known as the "Jewel of Toyama".
