Tateyama-machi nestles in the southeast of Toyama Prefecture. To the southeast of the city looms the majestic Tateyama Mountain Range of the Northern Japan Alps, a series of 3,000-meter-high peaks attracting climbing enthusiasts from all over the world. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, connecting Tateyama and Omachi City in Nagano Prefecture, is a world-renown tourist attraction that draws in many visitors every year. From April to June, the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route offers a spectacular view of the “Yuki no Otani” [Snow Walls], a towering snow corridor.

-From JR Toyama Station: Transfer to TOYAMA CHIHOU RAILWAY and disembark at Tateyama Station.
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, connecting Tateyama-machi and Omachi City in Nagano Prefecture, is graced with many scenic spots. The tallest waterfall drop in Japan, "Shomyo Falls", a beautiful marshland "Midagahara", registered under the Ramsar Convention and the "Kurobe Dam", the highest arch dam in Japan and where powerful water discharge is observed during the season, are just some of the scenic spots along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
