Sakai / 坂井(Fukui)

About Sakai

Sakai City is located in the northwest corner of Fukui Prefecture. The western part of the city faces the Sea of Japan and boasts tourist spots such as Tojinbo, one of the best places in the prefecture for viewing the Sea of Japan if you can brave the precipitous cliffs, and Mikuni Onsen, where you can enjoy seafood from the Sea of Japan and mineral-rich high-salinity hot springs. Maruoka Castle, one of only 12 castles in Japan with a castle tower built before the Edo Period, is another of Sakai City’s iconic tourist attractions.
