Shizuoka

Shizuoka Prefecture boasts Japan's tallest mountain, the iconic Mt. Fuji. Not only is Shizuoka blessed with Mt.Fuji, but it is also famous for being home to some of Japan's most popular tourist destinations, such as the beach city Atami and balmy Izu. The area has intimate ties to Edo Period Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, and many historical sites remain. Agriculture is well-developed in this region, Shizuoka being one of Japan's leading producers of green tea and mandarins. Manufacturing is also thriving, with the headquarters of Yamaha, a world-renowned manufacturer of musical instruments, and the automobile manufacturer Suzuki being located in the prefecture.
