Inuyama / 犬山(Aichi)

About Inuyama

Located in the northernmost part of the Aichi Prefecture, the city of Inuyama has developed as a castle town during the Edo Era (1603-1868). Even today, visitors are able to feel the past days as they walk around the Inuyama Castle, a designated National Treasure. Tourists to the Kiso River, running through the northern part of the city, have a chance to watch fishermen practicing the art of Ukai [an over 1,300 years a traditional fishing technique with trained cormorant birds]. There are numbers of places where visitors experience the rich nature and history of the area, such as the open-air museum “Museum Meiji-Mura”, preserving and exhibiting buildings from the Meiji Era (1868-1912).
