Aichi Prefecture is blessed with bountiful nature—boasting both mountains and sea— and has served as a transportation hub since ancient times due to its location practically in the center of the Japanese archipelago. The prefecture is also known as the birthplace of three celebrated military leaders in Japanese history: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. This region has long been renowned for its prosperous "monozukuri" (manufacturing/making of things) industry, with some examples being the vehicles manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation, the pottery of Seto and Tokoname, and the woolen textiles of Ichinomiya.
Located in the heart of Japan, Aichi Prefecture serves as a key transportation hub connecting Tokyo and Osaka, and has an advanced highway network as well as the Tokaido Shinkansen and other railroad networks. As such, Aichi offers excellent accessibility to the Kanto and Kansai regions. Moreover, there are two airports, Central Japan International Airport (Chubu Centrair) and Nagoya Airport, which operate flights to and from all destinations throughout Japan.
