Wajima City is located in Ishikawa Prefecture’s north, and is known for its bountiful nature. With a history dating back more than 1,000 years, the “Wajima Morning Market” has an excess of over 200 stalls selling fresh seafood, homegrown vegetables, folkcrafts, etc., and is so famous as one of Japan’s three major morning markets, that many tourists flock to it every year. The area is also famous for “Shiroyone Senmaida,” a series of small rice paddies on a slope in the shape of a staircase, and for beautiful lacquerware called “Wajima-nuri.”
