2026.6.4What's new
An observation deck overlooking the construction site for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen has opened in Iida City, Nagano. Open to the public on selected dates in May and June 2026, the deck allows visitors to see the changing construction landscape of a future station up close. Reservation is not required and free attendance, it is expected to draw attention as a new destination where visitors can see a rare moment of transformation that can only be seen now.
The observation deck is a rare opportunity to view an unfinished infrastructure construction site. Visitors can look out over a wide area that includes the future Nagano Prefecture Station, currently a tentative name, and the entrance to the Kazakoshi-yama Tunnel. On site, explanatory panels, staff commentary, and an AR (augmented reality) video featuring a Linear Chuo Shinkansen train are designed to help visitors understanding the project and making the experience more visually engaging.
The dynamic sight of a major project still in progress offers a valuable chance to feel the birth of historic piece of infrastructure.
