Nagoya Castle—a symbolic landmark in Nagoya City, Aichi—will host the “Nagoya Castle Spring Festival” to celebrate the arrival of spring. During the festival, visitors can enjoy special, limited-time experiences including access to historic structures that are typically closed to the public, as well as extended opening hours timed to the cherry blossom season.
Around 900 cherry trees within the castle grounds will be illuminated, offering a more atmospheric view of the castle than during the day. The festival also includes special access to the Southwest Corner Watchtower(Seinan Sumi Yagura), an Important Cultural Property that is usually closed, giving visitors a rare chance to see the castle up close. Combined with a visit to the richly reconstructed Honmaru Palace, it is a unique chance to experience both Nagoya’s history and the season’s scenery in one place.
