In Gifu City, Gifu, the 54th Dosan Festival will be held in honor of the legacy of Sengoku-period warlord Saitō Dosan. Over two days, the festival unfolds across the city center featuring powerful mikoshi parade and a wide range of events that bring energy to downtown Gifu.
The festival’s centerpiece, the Mikoshi Parade, fills the streets with spirited chants as floats and portable shrines make their way through the city, drawing crowds into the excitement. On the first evening, Yoimiya (the festival’s eve celebration) will be held at Inaba Shrine, featuring lantern-lit floats and mikoshi, traditional mechanical puppet performances, and fireworks that illuminate the night sky. Alongside these highlights, visitors can also enjoy the Dosan Rakuichi market showcasing local products, hands-on activities for children, and a market featuring antique kimono—offering a vivid way to experience Gifu’s history and culture over a single weekend.
